KNOWING WHO GOD IS

 Knowing Who God Is

**Introduction:**
In the journey of faith, understanding the character of God is fundamental. Knowing who God is shapes our trust, worship, and life decisions. The Bible, rich in narratives and teachings, provides profound insights into God’s nature and His unwavering commitment to His people.

**The Story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego:**
A striking example of God’s protective and powerful nature is found in the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (Daniel 3). These three young men, exiled in Babylon, faced the ultimate test of faith when commanded to bow to King Nebuchadnezzar’s golden statue. Their refusal, rooted in unwavering faith in the God of Israel, led to their being thrown into a blazing furnace. However, their story doesn’t end in tragedy. God’s miraculous intervention saved them, demonstrating His power to deliver those who trust in Him. Their ordeal underscores a key aspect of God’s character: He is a protector and deliverer who stands with those who stand for Him.

**Exploring God’s Attributes:**

– **God is Omnipotent:** He demonstrated His supreme power not only in protecting Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego but throughout the scriptures. Jeremiah 32:17 acknowledges God’s mighty power, stating, “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.”
– **God is Faithful:** Deuteronomy 7:9 reminds us, “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”
– **God is Just:** The Psalms frequently celebrate God’s justice, such as in Psalm 9:8, which says, “He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity.”

**Call to Action:**

– **Reflect:** Spend time meditating on God’s attributes. How have you experienced His protection, power, and faithfulness in your life?
– **Engage:** Share your reflections with friends or small groups. Discussing God’s character can encourage and strengthen your community’s faith.
– **Serve:** In understanding God’s just nature, look for opportunities to advocate for justice and righteousness in your community.

**Prayer Point:**

Lord God, we thank You for revealing Your character to us through Your Word and Your actions. Help us to grow in our understanding of who You are, that our trust in You may deepen. Teach us to see Your hand in our lives, especially in times of trial and testing. As Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood firm in their faith, grant us the courage to stand for You, reflecting Your love and justice in the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
