You Are Highly Favored
**You Are Highly Favored**
When we consider the stories of Ruth and Rahab, we see the profound truth that God’s favor is not limited by our backgrounds, mistakes, or circumstances. These two women, despite their challenging beginnings, were chosen by God to play significant roles in His divine plan. Their stories remind us that we, too, are highly favored by God, no matter where we come from or what we’ve been through.
**Ruth: From Moabite to Ancestor of Jesus**
Ruth was a Moabite woman, a foreigner, and a widow. Yet, her loyalty to Naomi and her faith in the God of Israel led her to Boaz, a kinsman-redeemer. Through her marriage to Boaz, Ruth became the great-grandmother of King David and part of the lineage of Jesus Christ. Her story, found in the Book of Ruth, is a powerful testament to God’s favor and how He can transform our lives when we trust in Him.
**Rahab: From Prostitute to Progenitor of Kings**
Rahab was a Canaanite prostitute living in Jericho. Despite her past, she recognized the power of the God of Israel and hid the Israelite spies, ensuring their safety. Because of her faith, she and her family were spared during the destruction of Jericho. Rahab’s story, found in Joshua 2, demonstrates that God’s favor can redeem and elevate anyone. She became an ancestor of Jesus Christ, showing that God can use anyone for His purposes.
**God’s Favor Knows No Bounds**
The stories of Ruth and Rahab illustrate that God’s favor transcends our past and our circumstances. Psalm 84:11 says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” God’s favor is available to all who seek Him and live according to His will. It is His grace that lifts us up and places us in positions of honor and purpose.
