Appreciating the Common Gifts We Overlook
**Appreciating the Common Gifts We Overlook**
In our busy lives, it’s easy to overlook the simple, yet profound, gifts that God has freely given us. As Christians, we often focus on praying for big miracles and breakthroughs, forgetting to appreciate the everyday blessings like oxygen, good health, and the beauty of creation. These common gifts are invaluable and deserve our gratitude.
The Bible encourages us to recognize and be thankful for God’s daily provisions. In James 1:17, it says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” This verse reminds us that all good things, no matter how small, come from God and are worthy of our appreciation.
Psalm 103:2-5 beautifully highlights the blessings we often take for granted: “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Here, David urges us to remember and give thanks for God’s continuous and generous blessings.
Moreover, Jesus taught us to appreciate God’s provision in our lives. In Matthew 6:26, He says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” This reminds us that if God cares for the birds, He surely cares for us, and His provision is always sufficient.
**Call to Action:**
Take a moment each day to reflect on the simple blessings in your life. Make a list of things you often overlook, like the air you breathe, your health, and the beauty of nature. Offer a prayer of gratitude to God for these common gifts and share this practice with others to spread the spirit of thankfulness.
**Prayer Point:**
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the simple and often overlooked gifts You provide daily. Help us to always appreciate Your blessings, both big and small. May we cultivate a heart of gratitude and share this appreciation with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
